How to Be a Real Leader When Building Your MLM Business

Like many other networkers, you probably want to build a successful Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) business. You have seen MLM giants do it and you want to join them in the “big guy” league. While these giants are great at MLM, you should remember that they are normal people like you who simply learned how to be successful.

There is a simple difference between leaders and wannabes. To be a leader, you must take the right actions. Let’s take a closer look at what MLM leaders do and why they achieve success.

1. Daily Actions. Successful leaders are consistent and take action on daily basis. Get out there and get some exposure twice a day. Fortunately, there are many ways to get exposure: give away a free e-book or a free report, share your story with people, add friends on Facebook and introduce them to your business, etc. Keep it simple and consistent and the results will make it worthwhile.

2. Weekly Actions. MLM leaders take action on a weekly basis too. You may want to send out one long distance package per week to a friend, family member or acquaintance who would benefit from discovering your business opportunity or products. You should include a book, CD, leaflet, product sample and other similar things in your package. Basically, try to introduce them to your products without sending an overtly strong sales pitch. Sending a package is quite simple and it could pay off big in the long run.

3. Monthly Actions. Successful MLM leaders stay current and attend monthly events. Whether the event is in your hometown or out of town, add one to your calendar. You can attend a luncheon, special dinner, chamber of commerce event, seminar or a conference. You can benefit by increasing your knowledge and getting a few leads or prospects.

4. Personal Development. Successful leaders in MLM always find ways to develop on a personal level. Professional and personal development can be done by reading books, participating in mastermind groups, listening to CDs or watching DVDs. Try to schedule at least 15 to 30 minutes per day on personal growth and development.

5. Stick With It. Smart leaders know and appreciate that building a massively successful MLM business won’t happen in one, two or three months. They know that time and effort are required to build momentum and they are confident that their system will provide results when they commit to it. Give it 110% for at least a year and see if momentum has started to build. Success could be just a few months away. Don’t jump ship every time a hot deal comes along.

6. Follow the “Slight Edge” Philosophy. Successful MLM leaders have the “slight edge” mindset and philosophy. They are aware of necessary actions, whether they are easy or not. They take responsibility for success and failure in their endeavors. They realize that small things like daily actions may not make a large difference at first, but when done consistently, they will create success. They work hard and know that 80% of their time will be required to get their business off on the right foot at first but later, they’ll only need to use 20% of their effort to get great rewards.

7. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone. Successful leaders get out of the beaten path every now and then. They do what others aren’t willing to do. Get out of your comfort zone and be consistent. After 3 to 5 years, a big turn around should come.
