The first product that you can market in your business is your actual, tangible (or intangible) company product. This is the realm of more than 80% of MLM distributors – attempting to make sales by talking about how ‘exciting’ their new magic lotion is. (Now don’t be mistaken, I buy as much magic lotion as the next burly man out there) You could replace the term ‘magic lotion’ with any of the other myriad of products that are sold in the MLM profession.

The bad part about running all over the universe promoting your product wherever you can is that you’re probably not making very much money doing it, are you? I know, there was that one guy who your friend Bill knew who knew a gal named Susan who had an uncle who got rich wearing a shirt that said ‘I swam naked in algae’ – but is it working for you?

The second way of making MLM Sales is promoting your opportunity as the vehicle to riches. As they say in Amway ’sell the dream’. The most difficult thing I’ve ever done to make money was when I called everyone I knew, and invited them to my house to ’show them the plan’ when I first got started in Network Marketing.

It would almost be easier to convince an elephant to become a bird. I’m being serious here. And I’m not saying this as someone who has never been successful doing this, either – I built an organization of more than 1000 people part time doing nothing but home meetings. Just being honest, though, it was a huge pain, and I hated it.

I had to give up church, friends, social gatherings, movie nights, you name it – all for the sake of ‘the dream’… I couldn’t even go on dates.

What I’m trying to say is – sure I made money. Who cares? I would rather eat ketchup on ice cream than do it again. It was horrible.
