How to Be a Real Leader When Building Your MLM Business

Like many other networkers, you probably want to build a successful Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) business. You have seen MLM giants do it and you want to join them in the “big guy” league. While these giants are great at MLM, you should remember that they are normal people like you who simply learned how to be successful.

There is a simple difference between leaders and wannabes. To be a leader, you must take the right actions. Let’s take a closer look at what MLM leaders do and why they achieve success.

1. Daily Actions. Successful leaders are consistent and take action on daily basis. Get out there and get some exposure twice a day. Fortunately, there are many ways to get exposure: give away a free e-book or a free report, share your story with people, add friends on Facebook and introduce them to your business, etc. Keep it simple and consistent and the results will make it worthwhile.

2. Weekly Actions. MLM leaders take action on a weekly basis too. You may want to send out one long distance package per week to a friend, family member or acquaintance who would benefit from discovering your business opportunity or products. You should include a book, CD, leaflet, product sample and other similar things in your package. Basically, try to introduce them to your products without sending an overtly strong sales pitch. Network Marketing - It’s THE People’s Business

You probably already know that Network Marketing is a people’s business. Some people even call it a people’s franchise because of the many similarities between the franchising and network marketing business models. Network marketing advocates say that it’s as THE ultimate people’s business. What do you think?

Those who are in network marketing immediately agree with this idea but those who aren’t familiar with MLM, or have been burnt in the past are solidly opposed to this concept. Although network marketers are in business FOR themselves, they aren’t in business BY themselves. They are part of larger organizations that offer support from the people who recruited them or their upline.

Many people were successful in becoming rich using network marketing. Obviously, they form the exception rather than the rule, but each network marketer starts off with the same odds of success. Results are the only criteria that dictate success or failure. It doesn’t matter what political party you support, what color your skin is and how old you are. In that sense, it is one of the fairer business models in the world.

Although financial success is the goal for most people, many network marketers find that their life is enriched by the whole experience. People grow as individuals because of the challenges they face and they learn from their mistakes along the way. The life lessons that some people have learned are simply priceless. Network marketing has allowed people to get out of their comfort zones and face the better person they could become.

Give Network Marketing Training to Your Downline

Untrained downline members can be fairly important problems for many network marketers. You must educate your downline and tell them about the program and its commission plan but don’t stop there! You also need to teach them how to execute a real marketing system.

If you don’t understand why you should bother doing that, think about the most common complaints received by upline members: representatives don’t know how or where to find leads, representatives can’t start a downline, representatives aren’t successful.

What do all of these complaints have in common? Inadequate training and the lack of a definite marketing system. You can’t blame your downline or tell yourself that they’re not enthusiastic enough. They joined, didn’t they? They also want to succeed as much as you do. When people can’t see a path to success, they get discouraged and lose motivation.

You need to step in and show them how to succeed. You have to teach them your marketing system (even if you don’t think you have one). Think about it and break it down into step-by-step instructions. How do you generate leads? How do you follow up? How do you get your conversion rate to be high? Train your downline to duplicate your marketing system and they too will succeed.
